so i'm back, uni's back, everything's as it were. cept i'm sick, some bug brought back from sing. fancy that

The last few days of singapore saw some blossoming of awkward friendships. ones that hopefully i'll keep. you'll all be missed, especially if the work here keeps being such a pain in my rectus. it's really beautiful you know? the heat's not so bad after a while, and the people, well they're the best part.

but on to the issue at hand. a semester of four cinema subjects. so each week i get four screenings. i'm tired just thinking about it. The exiles, diaspora and European Cinema lecturer has this monotonous voice with an accent, excellent for falling asleep to, which i did, the good girl that i am.

learning to live without my ipod being plugged in all the time, life's not bad you know? don't need a shield up all the time. especially if it's the same old same old.

i miss the hawker centres.

back on speaking terms with nicko again, welcome back friend, missed you much, missed having you in the next room, knocking on your door to watch kenshin together in the middle of the night, but i couldn't tell you that, could i?

lunch with jazz tomorrow, really need to organise stuff for us to do once Jinga hits town. so peeps, wait by your phones!

i've given up blogging daily. one because it's stupid, and two well, i'm pretty much failed it already haven't i?

Malaysia was great, spent a crazy amount of money. Finally got some actual work to do at work, analysing the web results of the surveys on the GV website. and i'm doing it right now so no photos or...anything. not til i can be bothered.

I saw Jing yesterday! that was real fun, had a good time laughing at useless things, spf 130 sunblock, giant furry slippers that covers half my body, and rubber stamp keyring couples... we took photos too so they'll all turn up here sometime.

and i've decided that the live8 performance wasn't as bad as i thought it was, in fact, i'll go as far as to say i thought it was quite good. i mean the balance was way off and i can't say i like the original version any better. like most classics, great song, piss weak delivery (i'm so going to get pelted for that).

so yes, my post punk panda eyes from albion, don't ever clean up because you'll never be as much fun.

yeah i'm a bit dead today, and Jinga, i'm going to miss the advanced screening tomorrow because i'm going to malaysia instead, but i'm going to the premier at cathay i think, but the tickets for that has already been ordered :( however, if you are interested, there's a special screening of the Lake House next thursday which i can invite you to!!

Day Two

Have you ever experienced vertigo while looking up of a building?

It's been an amazing first day. off the record (which means nothing on a blog since anyone can read this) so unofficially, and completely premature. but the long and short of it is that i've been offered a full time job. if i ever feel the inclination to go into marketing, distribution and exhibition of films.

i was sitting in the middle of a marketing meeting today, trying internally to think up any other way of advertising besides floor stickers, toilet stall posters, elevator rail banners, standies, regular posters and hanging mobiles when i had to stop and almost mentally bitch slap myself. as far as business is concerned it's obviously beneficial to be as aggresive and intrusive as you can be, but by god, it goes against everything i believe in. but because it's advertising for films, it's ok in my books?

i don't know. I got more meetings tomorrow, and an advanced screening of pirates of the carribean 2. as far as sating my immediate needs, i'm in happy happy land.

Dinner was at MELT, inside the dizzying Oriental Hotel. i've got to say, so far? loving the sing.

first night

Day One

holy crap it's hot. unfricking believably hot. that on top of sheer shyness i decided not to start taking photos of everyone till tomorrow.

plane ride was uneventful. managed to watch two movies that i otherwise would be too ashamed to watch. namely She's the Man and Take the Lead. yeah both stinkers. and i wrote a letter to frankie.

Being in Singapore is like walking around in the world inside my head. a mish mash of english and chinese which really effects the thought process. my god their accent is so strong in both languages that when they're talking to me i need to take a beat to realise which they're speaking in.

Kenneth is great, exactly how i imagined him to be, good humoured and kinda jolly. Clara is wonderful, her whole entire family is very generous, i'm still working out where i stand with everybody.

first day at the office tomorrow, have to take the subway at 8:30, god i hope i get to the right place, maybe i should've bought a map or something beforehand huh? Kenneth has set me an assignment actually, at the end of the trip. a 30-40 slide powerpoint presentation on how they could improve business, you know, from an objective (and ignorant) perspective. heh ^_^;;

but otherwise, in terms of this being a strengthening process, i have a stinkin maid. she just came in with a fruit platter and a laundry basket to leave out for her. she's suppose to clean my room too. my god if it weren't for the heat i'd move here.

must remember to call jing tomorrow. or at least once i find out what my timetable's gonna be like.
